St. Mark Catholic Church
Parish Assessment & Renewal Project

Project Purpose:

The Parish Assessment & Renewal Project will gather parishioner opinions on matters of parish life in order to develop a plan for St. Mark's future. Through this process, we believe God will reveal his plans for our faith family here at St. Mark. The project will be implemented over a 12- month period, beginning in September 2009.

Report to Parishioners:

In February 2010, St. Mark completed the assessment portion of the Parish Assessment and Renewal (PAR) process. The renewal has now begun, and will continue until all of our goals have been met. Thanks to all who contributed your input. St. Mark is taking many steps to capitalize on our strengths, overcome our challenges and follow where the Spirit leads us.

The "Parish Assessment and Renewal Parishioner Report" was mailed, on March 10, 2010, to all families and individuals registered with the parish. A copy of the information in the report is provided here on the parish website for your reference and for those not on the mailing list. Click on the following links to access the various sections of the report. Use your "back" button (return arrow) to come back to this menu.

Key Thoughts:

St. Mark's 10-year anniversary seems an appropriate time to do a self-assessment and plan for the future.
  • We're a bigger and more diverse parish than we were at our founding.
  • We want St. Mark to be a relevant spiritual home for today's parishioners.
The Parish Assessment & Renewal Project will reveal God's plan for St. Mark's future, based on the needs and opinions of parishioners.
  • Parishioners will have the opportunity to express themselves through surveys and town hall meetings.
  • St. Mark staff and a core committee of parishioners are being guided through this process by Fr. Tom Sweetser, a consultant with 30 years' experience helping parishes plan for their futures.
While the specifics of St. Mark's long-term plan will be molded by parishioners, we expect the initiative to help our parish:
  • better meet parishioners' spiritual needs.
  • engage parishioners in ministries and other activities.
  • endure as a community, beyond any single pastor or administrator.
